Media Institutions Research

Next i thought i should consider how my movie trailer would be distributed amongst the public.

and here are links to the websites of a few which i think would be suitable:

http://www.youtube.com/ - one of the most popular websites in the world would gain an immediate audience
http://www.itv.com/ - a channell which is dependent upon advertising to keep it going
http://www.amcentertainment.com/ - the largest cinema chain companies, a great place to advertise/show my teaser trailer.

Genre Research

I've had a thought about what genre of film my teaser trailer is going to be for.
I played around with the ideas of:
- comedy
- rom-com
- sci-fi
- horror

Due to resources like props, locations and actors etc i thought that horror would be a safe
option, as the conventions are pretty straight forward.
I then decided to research some horror/thriller trailers to get a feel of their conventions as well.

Just as i found out in my last research the film production company is always shown first.
- the narrating voice is that of an elder person, often with a creepy tone.
- Paranormal Activity and My bloody Valentine showed actually footage of an audience watching the film,
depicting how scared they were.
- fast editing of scariest scenes (only lasting a second or less) add to the suspense
- a lot of dark locations were used
- screaming and generally loud sounds were played throughout each trailer
