i thought i'd research some existing successful teaser trailers on youtube.
i will take note of the conventions used and hopefully apply them to my own project.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWw0ov-cAUg - Batman: the dark night.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6xOH-7Y_0g- Harry Potter and the half blood prince
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khizyk3Y5lo - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clK4NFJlfOI- Twilight Saga: New moon.
Common conventions in each trailer:
- the production company logo is seen before anything else
- fast pace music and rapid editing
- some use a narrating voice, often asking rhetorical questions
- there's one moment in each where the suspense climaxes (normally towards the end) and the music gets louder and editing gets quicker.
- giving away enough of the story without ruining it
- they all use cliff hanging techniques, to make the viewer want to go see the movie.
let's have the YouTube clips actually on your blog. Which particular forms and conventions are you going to follow?
